WINTER HOURS (1 July - 30 September) : Monday to Thursday 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM; Friday to Sunday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Accepted Items for Recycling
Below is a list of items that are free to drop off, and/or are recyclable.
Ruapehu Council Bags - Pink
We accept pink RDC bags. Please ensure they do not include food or recyclables.
Hard Plastics
Clean hard plastics can be recycled with 1, 2 or 5. All lids and soft plastics removed.
Batteries (motor & household)
Motor vehicle batteries and other household batteries are free to drop off.
Whiteware
We accept large household appliances (whiteware) for recycling.
Glass
We accept clean glass jars and bottles - brown, green and clear. All lids removed.
Cardboard & Paper
We accept cardboard and paper - excludes tissues and shredded paper.
Tyres - Tyrewise Scheme
We accept car and truck tyres with no rim. Up to 5 at a time free of charge.
AgreRecovery
Empty & triple-rinsed agricultural chemical containers for safe disposal & recycling.
Cans & Tins
Clean aluminium cans & tins are recyclable. This includes empty aerosel cans.
Scrap Metal
We accept various types of scrap metal including wire, steel, aluminum, and copper.
Waste Motor Oil ( < 20L)
Motor oils less than 20L is free to drop off. We do not accept food oil.
Food Scraps
All food scraps are placed in this bin and put out with your kerbside or bought to here.
Accepted Items for a Charge
Below is a list of items that may incur a charge upon drop off. Please check the Ruapehu District Council website for specific pricing. We have a weighbridge facility on site for residential and commerical customers.
General Rubbish
We accept general refuse and unsorted waste. Fees are based on volume or weight.
Greenwaste
We accept garden waste. Flax & Cabbage leaves to be separated from greenwaste.
Residential vs Commercial
Residental = Households, Commericial = Businesses. Different rates apply.
Concrete
We accept clean concrete and rubble. Fees are calculated based on weight or load size.
Hazardous Liquid Waste
Specialized handling for chemical or hazardous liquids.
E-Waste
Electronics that no longer work as intended can be dropped off for a small fee.
Cleanfill
Tiles, ceramics, bricks, soil, gravel, scoria, dirt and more
